Stereotypes
Today I came face to face with a stereotype. The confirming sort. I'm not going into specifics in case this space becomes some sort of agony aunt.
The issue here therefore isn't that of what kind, but more of where from? Do stereotypes originate from the percievers themselves, or do the recievers themselves perpetuate it? Seems like some sort of chicken and egg kinda question don't you think? The recievers act in a certain kind of way, and percievers get a pre-concieved notion, treats the recievers in a certain kind of way, the recievers confirm the stereotype, the percievers treat them in a certain kind of way, etc etc... it's just a vicious cycle.
Is there something wrong with our system that pushes groups of people to behave the way they do? Or is how they behave totally alright, it's just that the majority do not subscribe to it, and thus becomes a deviance culminating in sterotypes?
On another note, Ling has been visiting all these wierd assed blog sites about peeps who either have a warped sense of the body, or just seriously screwed up! Visit one of them here... first thing that came to my mind... go figure... or did I just fall into a stereotype?
Take it easy, Keep it real...
